At Mailer House, we offer a third-party printing and mailing service to clients all over the country. It is our passion. Our clients love us and that makes us pretty darn happy.
But happiness is kind of a complicated thing. Not everyone can feel happiness from printing billing statements and coupons (man, that felt nerdy to say). So many of us at the office take pride in living life to the fullest with the ultimate goal of just being happy.
So what are some good tips for achieving happiness?
Rely On A Few Close Friends
Having friends makes us happy. You don’t need to be everyone’s friend, but you shouldn’t have zero friends, either. Making the effort to have relationships with other people has a positive impact on our lives. It makes us feel happier and more complete. Good friends are useful and deterring our perception of ourselves with that perception may be lowly and downtrodden. Interactions with others bring laughter through spirited conversations. Never underestimate the power of having friends.
Don’t Allow Consumerism To Fuel Your Happiness
Buying things for the reward of happiness is simple, fast gratification. It won’t last. Buying new things is fun and if you have the money and want things, hey, why not? But there is a difference between buying things out of want or need and buying things to feel a short-lived rush of happiness. Know the difference. Because the latter will only lead to feelings of sadness, which means buying more things to revive the instant gratification.
Don’t Drink or Eat To Be Happy
I’m not saying don’t enjoy some wine or a pizza. I’m saying that when you are eating bad foods are drinking alcohol JUST for the sake of feeling happy, you are headed in the wrong direction. Alcohol is fun, but it should be an extension of your already happy and accomplished life. It shouldn’t be something that makes you happy. We all hit the bottle a little when we feel down, that’s fine so long as it isn’t the daily medicine.
Work Out
Get a gym membership and actually go. If you hate gyms, join a Yoga studio or Barre. Learn pilates. Go kayaking. Do things! Your mind will thank you for it!
